Stapleford Duathlons and the Editor's League

The Stapleford duathlons are held on a regular basis around Stapleford woods. They are simply short training races. They are mostly relatively short, 3km run 13km bike ride followed by a final 3km run. However there are also occasional long races in which the runs are 6km and the bike ride is 23km. There are also intermittent handicap races and relays. It's all very good fun. Not only are they excellent little races but the your position also gives you points for the Editor's League. The Editor's League is a simple concept, the more Staplefords you do, the more points you get, and points mean prizes. Arrive early for a chance to warm up before the race start time.

Location

The races are based around Stapleford Woods with transition in one "car park" area. The run is flat and fast through Stapleford Woods and the bike goes through Stapleford village itself and nearby Norton Disney. The bike is essentially flat, barring one relatively minor "undulation".

The Bike Course

Coming out of transition turn left and follow the road for about 1km until you meet a 3-way junction with a big tree in the middle, continue on following the road you are on. Keep following the road through Stapleford. You will go round a series of short bends, after one of these there is a turn off to the left, it should be marked. Carry on through Norton Disney, and up the hill, over the hill and down the hill. When you reach the T-junction turn left. Follow this road for a couple of kms until you reach the big tree again. Turn right and follow this road back down to transition.
